William Klein (born in 1928) is an American-born French photographer and filmmaker. He is known for his unconventional photographic techniques in the areas of photojournalism and fashion, and was ranked twenty-fifth in the Professional Photographer list of the hundred most influential photographers. Klein began his career as a painter, studying under Fernand Léger. He then achieved widespread acclaim as a fashion photographer for Vogue, and was awarded the Prix Nadar in 1957, the Centenary Medal and Honorary Fellowship of Royal Photographic Society in 1999, and the Outstanding Contribution to Photography Award at the Sony World Photography Awards in 2012. We can see his work in the MoMA in New York, among many other international museums.
