“Art has always been my main source of inspiration. I am fascinated by shapes which defy gravity and create visual lightness.”

Finn Juhl (1912-1989) is considered one of the greatest furniture designers of the 20th century, and was also an architect and interior and industrial designer. He was Danish, and began his studies at the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen in the 1930s. He gained global recognition early in his career, in 1952, after furnishing a large room in the United Nations building. His collaboration with key players of the American furniture industry led to the worldwide popularization of the Danish Modern style. Finn Juhl’s furniture can be seen today in private and public collections, as well as museums around the world, including MoMA in New York.
